Grilled Italian Sausage with Red Pepper and Red Onion

2 tablespoonsolive oil
2 cupssweet onion, diced
1 can (14.5 ounces)diced tomatoes
1 can (14.5 ounces)white beans, drained
2 cupsreduced-sodium chicken broth
2 tablespoonschopped fresh sage or parsley, optional
6 slicescrusty Italian bread, optional
Heat oil in a soup pot over medium-high heat; add onions and saute 4-5 minutes, stirring often. Slice sausage and add to pot, sauting another 3-4 minutes or until starting to brown.
