Ingredients
1 pkg. PERDUE® Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage (1 lb.) or PERDUE® Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage (1 lb.)
8 ounces spaghetti, cooked and drained
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 Italian sweet pepper, chopped
1 can (15 ounces) herbed tomato sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1 In 10-inch microwave-safe pie plate, place spaghetti. Add Parmesan cheese and butter; toss until evenly coated.
2 Arrange pasta on bottom and up sides of plate to form pasta crust; cover with aluminum foil and set aside.
3 In 2 1/2 quart microwave-safe bowl, arrange sausage; cover with wax paper. Microwave at HIGH (100% power) 4 minutes.
4 Cut sausage into thin slices. Stir in onion and sweet pepper; cover with wax paper and microwave at HIGH 3 to 4 minutes, stirring twice.
5 Drain off pan juices. Stir tomato sauce, garlic, parsley, basil and oregano into meat mixture; pour into pasta shell. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese in circle over sauce. Microwave uncovered at HIGH 1 to 2 minutes until cheese is melted.
6 Cover with foil and let stand 5 minutes.
