Ingredients

1 package PERDUE® Fresh Lean Ground Turkey (alternate: PERDUE® Fresh Ground Chicken)
1/4 cup loosely packed fresh mint (alternate: cilantro leaves, chopped)
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
4 tablespoons crumbled feta cheese
4 regular size pita breads (5-6 inches)
1 medium tomato, sliced

 

Instructions
  1. If grilling, grease grill. Preheat grill or broiler.
  2. In medium bowl, combine turkey, mint and lemon peel until blended. Shape into 4 oval burgers with 1 tablespoon feta cheese in center of each burger.
  3. Grill or broil, turning occasionally, 10 minutes or until meat thermometer inserted in center registers 165°F.
  4. To serve, cut top edge off each pita bread. Place burgers and tomato in pita bread and top, if desired, with your favorite condiment.

I added more than the recommended ¼ cup of mint and used lime (instead of lemon) zest. I whipped it up quickly and the burgers came out very tasty! Flatten patties as much as possible so they cook all the way through without burning on the outside. I suggest using a slotted broiling pan to let the fat drip off and spraying oil on the pan for easy clean up.
