Teriyaki Drumsticks with Fruit Kebabs Recipe

1 package
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup pineapple juice
5 tablespoons brown sugar, divided
2 tablespoons olive oil (Alternate: vegetable oil)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
3 cups large fresh pineapple chunks
2 mangoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks (about 3 cups)
Kebab skewers*


  1. Preheat grill or broiler. In small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, pineapple juice, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, oil, garlic powder and ginger until blended.
  2. Grill or broil chicken, turning occasionally and basting frequently with soy mixture, 20 minutes or until meat thermometer inserted in thickest part of drumstick registers 180°F. Note: Do not baste during last 5 minutes of grilling.
  3. Meanwhile, alternately thread pineapple and mango chunks on skewers. Sprinkle remaining 2 tablespoons brown sugar over fruit kabobs. Grill kebabs away from direct heat (over the "off" side of the grill or on the edge of grill); 3 minutes or until heated through.
  4. Serve chicken with fruit kebabs.

*Note: If using bamboo skewers, soak in hot water 30 minutes before using.
