To help build stronger communities for a brighter tomorrow, associates from Perdue locations recently pledged a combined $503,091 to local United Way campaigns. Pledges from some locations also include grants from the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation totaling $88,200.

With nearly 1,300 local organizations around the country, United Way of America is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities.

The campaign of each local United Way allowed associates to use a simple payroll deduction to support United Way partner agencies. The following Perdue locations held fund-raising campaigns to support their local United Way and its member agencies:

  • Corporate Office, Perdue AgriBusiness and Salisbury Plant in Maryland donated $170,152;
  • Accomac, Va., operations donated $53,00,
  • Dillon, S.C., operations donated $32,493,
  • Bridgewater, Va., operations donated $27,395,
  • Dothan, Al., operations donated $20,000,
  • Georgetown, Del., operations donated $6,930,
  • Perry, Ga., operations donated $91,252,
  • Princes Georges, Va., operations donated $819,
  • Rockingham, N.C., operations donated $64,000,
  • and, Washington, Ind., operations donated $37,050.

Each campaign brought much-needed funds to programs and community organizations. All donations will benefit partnered agencies such as the Boys and Girls Club, Meals on Wheels, March of Dimes and Habitat for Humanity.

Perdue associates proved that the act of giving is always valuable, even in the middle of difficult financial times.

“There is no doubt that our associates have a long and strong history of generosity,” said Perdue Chairman Jim Perdue. “I am very proud and inspired by our associates’ commitment to helping the United Way and their communities regardless of the financial decline in today’s economy.”
