In 1991, Jim Perdue became the third generation Perdue to lead the company. Frank became chairman of the executive committee of the board.

1990s

Jim Perdue is named chairman in 1991. He continues family leadership of the company, and succeeds his father as company spokesperson in 1994.

The '90s mark a period of dramatic growth, including acquisitions and construction of processing plants in the Midwest and Southeast and increased grain handling capacity.

A joint venture with one of China's most respected business enterprises leads to production of PERDUE® branded products in China, one of 50 countries where Perdue® products are sold.

The introduction of PERDUE® SHORT CUTS® carved chicken breast creates a new category of convenience products.

To provide associates access to convenient and affordable health care, the company builds onsite Wellness Centers staffed by medical professionlas from the community.
