The company's first commercial was filmed at the City Park in Salisbury in 1970. Frank Perdue went on to film more than 150 TV Commercials.

1970s

The company begins its now-famous TV commercials, and Frank Perdue becomes one of the first corporate leaders to serve as advertising spokesperson.

Production expands throughout the Mid-Atlantic to support growing consumer demand.

Not content with the quality of existing commercial chicken breeds, Frank Perdue establishes breeding and genetic research programs. One result is the PERDUE® Oven Stuffer® Roaster. This proprietary breed – introducted in 1974 – is the meatiest chicken available.
