Food Products: Quality and wholesomeness
As part of our company-wide Quality Assurance team, Tina Rawls helps ensure quality and wholesomeness. The PERDUE® brand name ensures quality food products. From ready-to-cook whole birds and parts to prepared foods, we have a full range of products for the home or commercial kitchen, while our innovative convenience foods provide quality meal solutions for families on the go. Our branded retail poultry products are sold in leading grocery, club and warehouse stores from Maine to Florida, and extending into the Southeast and Midwest – a market encompassing almost 40 percent of the nation's population. In fact, we are the number-one selling brand of premium fresh chicken in the eastern U.S. Our foodservice poultry products and sliced meats are distributed nationwide and served almost anywhere food is prepared away from home. Our foodservice customers include many of the best-known national restaurant chains, the U.S. military, and the national and regional distributors who sell to local restaurants and other commercial and institutional customers. We also sell edible oils, lecithin and other ingredients to major food manufacturers.
Agricultural Products and Services
Butch Tynes manages operations at one of Perdue's grain facilities. In addition to purchasing grain for our own feed operations, we also sell grain, seed oils, and further processed oilseed products and sell agricultural products and commodities domestically and internationally. Our feed manufacturing operations create a competitive market for local grain, while our grain merchandising programs help farmers maximize income from their crops. Venture Milling, a wholly owned subsidiary, creates custom-blended proteins for livestock, including PROVAAL® for the dairy industry. Perdue Fats and Proteins, LLC, operates protein conversion plants and sells premium grade pet and animal feed ingredients. Heritage Breeders, LLC, another wholly owned subsidiary, markets a line of commercial breeder stock to other poultry companies. Though distinct from the breed used by Perdue, the Heritage line is a competitive alternative to other commercial breeds. Perdue BioEnergy, LLC, pursues strategic opportunities in the growing field of renewable energies. Perdue AgriRecycle, a joint venture, converts surplus poultry litter into organic pelleted and granular fertilizer products used in leading retail lawn and garden products and sold to agricultural and horticultural customers, including golf courses.
Coproducts
Johnnie White oversees operations at one of Perdue's protein conversion plants. Arthur Perdue, our company founder, was a frugal man known to recycle the leather from worn-out boots for hinges on his chicken-house doors. Today, we're just as creative when it comes to uses for our by-products. Our protein conversion plants manufacture high-quality ingredients for livestock feeds and premium pet foods and we’re constantly exploring ways to find new, value-added uses for our byproducts.
A global presenceOur products reach customers in more than 50 countries. Through joint ventures and other creative partnerships, our international food operations create products that carry on Perdue's reputation for quality and food safety while meeting local preferences for taste, texture and packaging. We're also a major global exporter of U.S. poultry products. With a dedicated East Coast dockside freezer and quality control at every step, we're able to maintain PERDUE® product quality and food safety all the way to the customer. Perdue is certified by the USDA as a direct exporter of agricultural commodities. Our Chesapeake, Va., deepwater port – one of only a few on the East Coast to handle grains – can accommodate large ocean-going vessels. Linked by rail and barge to a network of Perdue grain receiving and storage facilities stretching across the eastern half of the U.S., the Chesapeake port connects U.S. farmers with world markets. Products exported through our deepwater port include grains and soybean meal and oil.
