Ingredients
1 package PERDUE® SHORT CUTS® Carved Chicken Breast, Grilled Italian Style, 6 oz. 1 tablespoon olive oil 1/4 cup finely chopped onion 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1/4 cup pizza sauce, divided 1/2 cup part skim ricotta cheese 1 cup part skim mozzarella cheese 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 can (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained 1 can (11 ounces) refrigerated "Thin Crust" pizza dough
Preparation Steps
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Heat oil over medium heat in large skillet. Add onion and garlic and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Remove pan from heat and stir in chicken, pizza sauce, cheeses and mushrooms.
- Unroll pizza dough on floured surface (do not stretch dough). Evenly place chicken mixture lengthwise down center of dough leaving space on either side. Fold longest edge of dough over filling then fold other long edge over that.
- Carefully lift dough, turn over and place it seam side down on greased baking sheet. Tuck open ends under to seal dough. Cut slashes in top of stromboli to allow steam to vent. Bake at 400ºF for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 10 minutes.
Note
If you prefer a Calzone – please use regular pizza dough and follow preparation steps listed below. - Preheat oven to 400°F. Heat oil over medium heat in large skillet. Add onion and garlic and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Remove pan from heat and stir in chicken, pizza sauce, cheeses and mushrooms.
- Unroll pizza dough crusts on floured surface. Roll each crust into a 12-inch square. Cut each crust into 4 squares. Evenly place about 1/3 cup chicken mixture in center of each square. Fold dough over filling, press or crimp edges to seal.
- Place calzones on greased baking sheet. Cut 3 slashes in top of each calzone. Bake at 400ºF for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes.
