Biotechnology and Genetic Modification

Perdue Farms supports consumer and customer choice in regards to biotech grains.

Within Perdue Foods, we provide consumers options of both conventional and USDA-certified organic chicken products under multiple brands, all of which are consistent with our company's commitment to wholesome foods and superior quality. Within Perdue AgriBusiness, we purchase from farmers conventional, biotech and organic grains to meet the needs of our domestic and international customers. The farmers choose what crops they want to plant and which production methods they wish to employ.

Genetically modified grains have been widely used in agriculture for the past 15 years, reducing the use of chemical herbicides and pesticides, providing nutritional benefits and increasing yields. During that time, science has found no link between human health and the consumption of meat from animals fed a diet that includes genetically modified grains, a position that is supported by the World Health Organization.

Genetically Modified Animals

Perdue’s chickens and turkeys are not genetically modified. The meatiness of the PERDUE® chicken is the result of a natural process of selecting and crossbreeding birds with desirable traits.
