Perdue Farms associates present a check for $14,308 to the United Way of Ohio Valley. Cromwell, Ky. (December 5, 2012) - Associates at Perdue Farms’ Cromwell, Ky., Complex contributed $14,308 to the United Way of the Ohio Valley. The campaign also includes a $1,301 grant funded by the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms.

United Way is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to maximize the communities’ resources to improve the lives of all the members of the community. Through the combination of generous individual and business contributions, the United Way of the Ohio Valley is able to fund agencies and programs in the areas of education, income, health, and emergency services.

The Perdue campaign allowed associates to use a simple payroll deduction process to individually contribute to the United Way. They also organized several fund-raising events, including a bake sale and silent auction, and some associates made individual cash donations.  Despite tough economic conditions, Perdue associates still managed to dig deep in their pockets to support their local community. In fact, associates increased their contributions to United Way by more than 700 percent over last year.

“I’m genuinely not surprised by the success our team had with its efforts to raise money for United Way,” said Jim Booth, Perdue director of operations. “When they get behind something, lookout, the sky’s the limit!  We have a huge base of good hearted and caring people.”

As Lesley King, Perdue human resources manager, explains, “This has been a very heart-warming experience with the level of participation from our associates. They were very positive, receptive, and forthcoming with Perdue’s community efforts for United Way. I am proud of what we were able to do as a team.”
